RWANDA GAHIGIRO CAPITAL SUPPORTS SUPER APP GOZEM SECURE $5M SERIES A ROUND

(Kigali, Rwanda) Gahigiro Capital Ltd., a Rwanda based corporate finance advisory firm, has successfully supported Gozem in the raising of both its seed & series A rounds along with a couple of other advisory firms. Via Gahigiro Gozem has secured funding from a unique collection of global venture capitalist investors. The funding will play an instrumental role in Gozem’s acceleration as a super app scaling across West & Central Africa.


According to Gahigiro Capital’s managing director Michael Shema working with Gozem has been a success, “Gahigiro Capital is extremely proud to have closely worked with the Gozem management team on both its seed-2 & series A rounds. “Gahigiro Capital is excited about the quality of investors we were able to bring on board; whom we have no doubt will add significant value to Gozem long-term. This transaction also holds significant value for Gozem countries of operations, which are often overlooked by most African focused VCs” Shema adds


Gahigiro Capital has worked with Gozem since early 2020 to secure global investments for the fast-growing app. Gahigiro’s support to Gozem pre-series A brought Gozem additional institutional investors to its shareholder base and partnerships with top Asian based funds. The institutional investors committed to support Gozem in providing access to their portfolio companies and providing access to potential partnerships with international strategic groups.


According to Gozem co-founder Raphael Dana,the series raising process was a success for both Gozem and Gahigiro Capital, “We enjoyed working with Gahigiro Capital on this raising as they brought about an innovative capital pool who are at the same time quality institutional investors. Gozem was launched in Togo in 2018 to deliver world-class digital services to under-served populations. Using transportation as their entry point, Gozem began as a motorcycle ride hailing app with 100 drivers. Today, the app is available in four countries across Francophone West and Central Africa with over 5 million trips completed and has evolved into a super app with a suite of services that includes food and parcel delivery, e-commerce payments, and fintech services.
